Herb Thompson is a Management Consultant at Accenture Federal and an Executive MBA student at Cornell University. He retired in March 2019 after over 20 plus years in the Army. He culminated his service as a Special Forces Green Beret Team Sergeant for 3.5 years in 5thSpecial Forces Group. Prior to being earning his Green Beret, he won the 2008 US Army Drill Sergeant of the Year award while a being assigned as a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Jackson, SC. He is believed to be the only person in the history of the Army to have earned this award and the Green Beret. He earned a B.S. in Business Studies in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University and attended the Tuck: Next Step graduate certificate program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He currently resides at his slice of heaven in the woods near the Washington, DC area.

Evan Roddenberry is originally from North Carolina and currently lives in Orange County, California. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a degree in Arabic studies. Evan served in the US Army for 10 years as both an Infantry Officer and Special Forces Officer. After leaving the Army he went to Blizzard Entertainment to work in their IT Operations Department. He currently works at Anduril Industries, a technology company reinventing how the tech industry interacts with the government and defense space.

Skyler Brown served as a Special Forces Team Leader in 5th Special Forces Group and deployed to Southwest Asia twice before leaving the Army in 2017. He describes his experiences on the team as “a dream come true” and he still strives to live up to the standards that his team set in stone. Skyler is currently a second-year MBA student at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business where he focuses on finance and international business skillsets. Skyler vividly remembers the depth of support he received from West Point through the end of his time in uniform. He looks forward to supporting those who are leaving the Special Forces Regiment for another challenge.

Erich Martin is a transitioning Green Beret who serves actively in the community as an advocate for Veterans of all branches. He entered the Army as an Infantryman in 1999. Following his tour to OEF I/II, he entered the SFQC, where he was awarded the skill Special Forces Engineer in 2004. Since that time, Erich has conducted over a dozen deployments to nations throughout the globe with 10th Special Forces Group, and served valorously as an SF Intelligence Sergeant, and SFOD-A Operations Sergeant. He is currently finishing up his time as a Brigade Ops SGM out of TX. He holds an AA in General Education from UMUC, and is currently finishing up his Bachelor’s Degree from Norwich University in the Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis curriculum. He plans on working towards an MBA from BYU, Penn State, or U of Michigan upon graduation. He contributes to the Mentors For Military Podcast and serves as an ambassador to the Green Beret Foundation (GBF).

Manoj Palacios served with some of the best people on earth in Special Forces as a Communications Sergeant and Assistant Company Operations Sergeant in 5th Special Forces Group. Manoj deployed to Afghanistan twice before leaving the Army to complete an MBA in Strategic Management from Wharton and a Master’s in Strategic Studies and International Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He holds a Bachelor’s in History of War and Revolution from Princeton and currently aspires to help change the entire defense industry by working at Anduril, a defense tech startup. Manoj is zealously passionate about repaying the SF community that, by paying it forward, provided him with so many incredible opportunities.

Thomas Cavett is a Senior Implementation Coach at McKinsey & Company currently living in Philadelphia, PA. He is a former Special Forces Medical Sergeant who served in 1st Special Forces Group deploying across the Asia-Pacific Region. Thomas left the Army in 2016 to get his MBA and MA in International Studies from the Wharton School of Business and Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies. Thomas is passionate about helping veteran entrepreneurs and in particular helping Green Berets translate their skills to unleash their powerful potential in the business world.
